Claytons Christmas Swap

Another fun swap from the Tuesday Girls.

This time I was sending to Shez who seems to have liked my little collection.

and I received from Sandi herself.

She included:
  • a fat quarter with reindeer - in a  lovely gold which will match the table runner I finished a little while back - here.
  • some cute snowflake buttons which will go onto my North Pole Quilt which I hope to finish before Christmas 2016
  • a lovely bird in a dome for the Christmas decoration
  • and some gorgeous gooey Lindt balls...mmm too hard to resist and too nice to share
The next swap is open, - a "Road Trip" swap - pop over here to read about it.  I hope you join in.

I'm off to Sydney for the weekend - a bit of a catch up with people I worked with in the early 80's...I wonder if I will recognise everyone???

Sunday Stitchers July

A great sewing day today with the Sunday Stitchers group and a chance to "Show & Tell" Block 8 of Bluebird Lane.

I am not sure if I was crooked or the camera.
We only have 2 blocks to go.  Then to decide how to finish it off - the star border or something else??

I may not have posted too many pictures of this before so next month I might take them all and pin them up - at the venue we have a great "design wall"  - its actually just a wall with a carpet like covering - and with pins makes a fantastic display area.
(And the red goes well with my blocks!!!)

FNSI - July

A slightly delayed FNSI - but I'm happy to sew any Friday night and if I have cyber company then its even better.

Preparation - not always a lot of fun - but it has to be done - I have a retreat coming up (27 sleeps...who's counting??) and I plan to finish off 3 quilt tops.  I am making "wedding" quilts for each of my DD1's bridesmaids. One was married before her wedding and the other 4 since. I have already made one for DD1(blues & purples) and one for her Maid of Honour (teals), so now I am doing yellow, pink and red.

I have almost all the blocks for the inside stitched and am now working on the 4 corner blocks for each quilt.

So, I traced onto fabric and traced onto Vliesofix and ironed.

Before retreat I need to cut the stitcheries into 4.5" squares.  I've already cut the strips for around each block and I have the border fabrics packed ready to go...Sounding super organised...will it all pan out??

Thanks Wendy for hosting us again...pop over here for the linky to have a look at what others did.

This time next month I will be on retreat - cyber and physical friends to sew with.  Yippee!!! And hopefully I will 3 flimsies to show before I leave.

Happy Winner - Happy Mail x 2

I was the lucky winner in FNSI in April and the lucky winner in FNWF in June.
My April prize was a little delayed (life is like that sometimes) but it's here now so I thought I'd show them both together.

I really enjoy these nights so generously organised by Wendy & Cheryll.  It's an added incentive to keep on sewing knowing there are many cyber friends keeping you company.

There will be a FNSI this Friday - the link is not up yet but if you keep an eye on here - there will be one this week.
(You never know - you might win a prize too.)

FNWF July

Friday night saw me finishing off my plate bag.

At Sunday Stitchers we all take food for lunch - meats and salad bits, so we need to take a plate and cutlery.
Last Christmas Sandi gave us each a cutlery holder and placemat.... and I made a simple bag (using a tea towel for easy laundering) as a present for Inca on her Birthday.  The idea took off and a lot of the SS girls made one when on retreat this week, so I thought I better get my act into gear and make one for me.

I also did some stitching on this lot...

These blocks to be made into a quilt for one of my daughter's bridesmaids.  There were 4 bridesmaids in all...all are married now and I have already gifted this quilt to my daughter and chief bridesmaid, so I am now making 3 more . . . mmm...I know what you are thinking.
(By the way, if anyone has any of this fabric in this colour that is spare...I would love to hear from you...in case I run out...It's a Harvest Home fabric.)
Thanks again to Cheryll for hosting and coordinating all of us happy sewers.
