Chooky's Chookshed Party

It's Party Time !!!!

Chooky hosts a virtual party every year to celebrate the birthday of her ChookShed. We all link up and try to commit the weekend to sewing...
Of course there is a real party happening too, but we can't all arrive in the middle of *^#!^(^#%&   wherever it is - and sew - but a virtual party is almost as good.

Friday Night
Never very productive as its the end of a week of work, but I did get some very fiddly cutting done.

The bits are all for my "Welcome to the North Pole" quilt ...maybe finished for this Christmas?

Saturday
In between some "domestics" I added some snow and selected some roofing material for some blocks.  Here are a couple...though I did quite a few more....

(no idea why this won't go the right way..)

I'll be sewing the roofs on while watching TV on Sunday night.

During the day I was showing DD2 the blocks - most of the buildings have fabric that matches what the building is for - when I showed her the Coffee Shop,,,she said it was a shame it wasn't in the shape of a coffee cup/mug...
This is/was  the Coffee Shop:

so I put my architect's hat on...and built a new Coffee Shop...just needs a decoration for the lid...and snow...maybe some decorations on the handle.

Sunday
Sunday was a Sunday Stitchers Day - so I worked on this:
A few of us in the room working on this one.

Thanks to Chookyblue for hosting a fun cyber Sewing Party - Happy Birthday to her shed...I think a real visit is on my bucket list.  You can pop over there and go exploring what all the party goers got up to via the links.

Cheers!!!

Farm Girl Vintage

Recently InstaGram was a-buzz with a new book being published by Lori Holt and a Sew-a-Long was going to happen.
Last year there was a Christmas one which a few friends did - and I have now started  - and it was fun to see what block would be proposed each week, what new block would be added and how the quilt would go together, so I decided I would want to play along with this new one and ordered the book.  (After all if everyone is doing it I don't want to be left out....)

The book is here - the Sew-a-Long has started but I'm not doing it - but I did start on a block a few weeks ago - here.

Now I realised I haven't put the finished block on the blog.

I will probably make some more of the blocks from the book,  but the Sew-a-Long is not going to happen....

Yes, that is a ladybug crawling on my strawberry....

Tomorrow I'm going sewing - better get some "stuff" organised...what to take???...must have some hand sewing to do . . .  .and a sewing weekend coming up - I'm joining Chookyblue while she celebrates her 3rd birthday in her "Shed" - she's hosting a cyber sewing weekend...and Sunday is our regular Sunday Stitchers meeting - we need to take pink food for a "BIggest Morning Tea".

Off to search a recipe or two .  . . . - oh and find some sewing . .  .

Nature's Journey

I have finished my May blocks for the Stitch-a-Long  - nothing like a deadline to make you focus!

and I've made a good start on June -

I've even cut some shapes for July

I am trying to get ahead a bit - I have a baby quilt to finish off (baby due in 2 weeks!), my North Pole blocks and Mrs Beasley's Sampler block 3, a mini quilt and two Natalie Bird projects...that's just the high priority list!

I hope the extra "paid work" load has eased off now so maybe I will make more progress in the Sewing Space - and I will catch up on some blogs that I have had to put aside lately.

Happy Autumn - or Spring - I think anywhere Autumn and Spring are the nicer seasons - no extremes.  Brisbane is quite liveable at the moment.

A Little Bit of This and a LIttle Bit of That - FNSI - May

I was able to join all my cyber buddies sewing on Friday Night for FNSI.

I had the house to myself to start with so I watched a bit of TV, looked through a new magazine - and sewed a few triangles together, collected DD2 and then moved to the physical "Susan's Sewing Space" - and did some blanket stitching on a few North Pole blocks which have been languishing in the "WIP" pile.

Hope everyone else had a lovely restful sewing night.  I still have a pile of "Work" - nasty four letter word - but that will all be all done this week so I can breathe properly again and get back to my blog & all that fun stuff.
